HERE'S THE STORY OF LOVE.
 |
Cindy
Hill moved to Austin a little less than
five years ago to enjoy the creative flow
of the city. A former junior high and high
school teacher and a mother of three beautiful
girls, Cindy has found that the Austin lifestyle
is an encouraging environment for both young
people and adults such as herself.
Cindy
opened her first retail business in Columbus,
Texas 11 years ago. Homemakers was a great success
in a small town. She decided to take on the
city by opening Love.
Love.
takes from elements of her former shop; a general
store for everyone, for the home, for yourself,
for all occasions. But Love. is fresh with new
ideas, current and vintage merchandise, multiple
textures of styles and reasonable prices. Having
spent her early childhood in various parts of
Central America and Mexico, Cindy has an eye
for the Old World and combines it with modern
character. Partner, Ginger Leigh offers a perspective
for the 30-something crowd. Cindy also gets
a lot of help from her three girls (8, 10, 12)
who help pick out items for the kids.

Ginger
Leigh has lived in Austin for 14 years having
studied at the University of Texas. Professional
musician and touring artist, Ginger has spent
a lot of time with people. She brings to Love.
an appreciation for human differences and uniqueness.
While Cindy has the eye for the goods, Ginger
has the energy to keep up with the current trends
and social activities in Austin. Her local fanbase
has been incredibly supportive of Love. and
makes sure to keep Cindy busy in the shop while
Ginger is on tour overseas.

The
Mommy and the Rock Star have taken baby steps to
getting the store open. They moved into 1000 South First
in May 2003 to begin decorating and organizing. By August,
the duo had already hosted a series of outdoor concerts
(affectionately known as "Love on the Lawn"),
during which people listen to live music and shop inside.
The girls opened their doors officially for daytime
hours in August and have not stopped yet. Shoppers and
music lovers alike enjoy coming to Love. Austin voters
even voted Love on the Lawn as one of the top 10 "Best
New Clubs" in the Chronicle Music Awards 2003 and
top 10 "Best Acoustic Venue" in 2004. Love.
on the Lawn also won Critic's pick in the Austin Chronicle
awards 2005.
Along
with the excitement of having been recognized as a great
place to hear music, Cindy and Ginger feel rewarded
every time new and repeat customers come get their Love.
Every day more and more Austinites and visitors become
"Love.rs".....
Come
by and see us! -- Cindy Hill and Ginger Leigh
